Task Force
Policy

Current State:
With six major interstate highways, Dulles International Airport, 11 railroads, and The Port of
Virginia, Virginia’s geography and transportation system offer companies engaged in international
business unparalleled opportunities to get people or products to or from anywhere in the world.

Issues Facing Virginia:
• Virginia has not fully leveraged its logistical assets for international trade, including The Port of Virginia, Dulles Airport, and its mid-Atlantic location.

• Virginia has proactively begun to build upon its rail and port infrastructure further asserting its ideal East Coast location.

Task Force Goals:
• Create a strong marketing program that supports our competitive advantages for distribution of goods, both import and export.

• Build awareness of Virginia’s logistical advantages for international trade.

Illustrating the Value:
Virginia has both the geography and infrastructure to serve as a crossroads for ever increasing international business. Our challenge now is twofold:

• Continue to build, create a business environment that allows international companies to take full advantage of Virginia’s location.

• Impart that message to companies, both domestic and international, in order to secure their operations in Virginia.
